Ok guys I put a few hundred miles on the gears installed(3:90's)...so it was finally time to open it up! All I can say is that there is a definite SOTP difference! I am a happy camper! (Yea yea Joe I probably should have done the 4:10s though...lol)
I do notice that my steering wheel is off slightly now.....The word is that the bolts need to be tightened 30 lbs over spec if they are reused since GM says they are not reusable! Is it worth putting in new bolts??????
The rear cross member was removed and caused a change in the thrust angle on the car. Also sometimes when the car is jacked from the rear, the increased presure on the front can cause the steering to go off. So far having the bolts 30lbs over spec have kept my wheel dead on through numerous wheel changes.
Im sure the 3.90s are fine marc but 4.10s would have brought an even bigger smile.
WOW; I reused all the bolts and have driven around 4000 miles since my 3.42 carrier swap and have had zero problems (knocking on wood to play it safe).
Hi Mike. I am having my gear changed from 3.15 to 3.42 tomorrow if all goes well. How did you adjust your speedo? I am having the local Chevy dealer do the work so I hope they will be able to do it.

:nonod: Chevy dealer is not going to be much help with programming.
How much did the whole job cost. What all do they have to replace to put the 3.90's in? I did this before on my mustang, but I'm betting it will cost a
WHOLE lot more for the vette.
