Intake question???
Is there an actual benefit to getting a blackwing filter set over the twin conical K&N units.(the ones that have the Y or T shaped pipe with a filter on each end). I have a chance to buy a used set up like this but was planning on the blackwing before this deal came up. Problem is I can't really see where the blackwing would give me that much more performance over the other style. Any hard facts or actual experiences???? This is for a 98 Vette....

I believe the best bang for the buck is a 2002 or later ZO^ Air Filter box lid for $48. It will improve performance and sound better. I run a paper filter in mine, some run a K&N (but watch out for oil on your MAF).
You need another filter, the 1998 is very restrictive, breathes through four "cubic inch" straws! Z06 has a 5-7 inch hole in front center plus open sides.

Is that better than an open element?? So what all do I need from the 02 ZO6? Just the lid or what?
