Re: Quick answer please on Bilstein sports (C5 Frederik)
Bitte,
Try this. $299 shipped and they actually have them. Of course, shipping to Germany is quite another matter. Mine arrive tonight. Viel Glueck . – C.
Re: Quick answer please on Bilstein sports (Mr. C's 5)
Frederik, you might have to think it over. According to Ecklers the Bilsteins cannot be shipped by air, since they are high-pressurized gas shocks. Gas is flammable!
It would be a good idea asking Shawn about this before you place the order. Who will be responsible if something goes wrong during shipping? Not that this is very likely to happen, but you never know...! :blueangel:

Don
absolutely right. A friend of mine at the army orders them for me and he noticed this at Ecklers this afternoon. Hope they can be sent ground?
The price is for 4 shocks, isn´t it?
BTW will be in Cologne the weekend after easter, maybe we can meet for a drink.

Re: Quick answer please on Bilstein sports (C5 Frederik)
Frederik, I also want those shocks for my Vette! I will give Bilstein a call tomorrow and get some information about buying them here in Germany.
BTW: none of the supporting vendors send ground, for tracking and insurance purposes.
Looking forward meeting you in 2.5 weeks!
UPDATE: just called the Bilstein Shop in Ennepetal, and they can sell me the shocks for €110.70 a piece. Makes € 442.80 in total, which is cheaper than having them send from the US. If you want, I could buy you a set as well. When you're in Cologne you can pick them up. OK?
Re: Quick answer please on Bilstein sports (C5 Frederik)
Hey Frederik,
i see you have the same thoughts i have. I was planning buying those shocks on my next trip to USA (will be there from June 15 to July 10 - Miami, Nashville, Bowling Green, Miami . . .)
Beside that, i did place an order last year at ecklers and requested ground shippment. The package was very big and i didnt needed it right away (it was a wolf car cover and a few other things). It took about three weeks for the package to arrive, and the postage was just 59 US$ (compared to over 200 US$ air mail).
I am shure if you give them a call, they will send you the shocks via ground. They want to make money, dont they ?!?
I hope we can meet before Liliana and i leave to the states . . .
Re: Quick answer please on Bilstein sports (Jochen)
I am reasonably sure the gas used in Bilstein Shocks is nitrogen and should not be a problem for shipping. And yes those shocks are available as a set of 4 in that price range from several vendors on the forum. Aren't they manufactured in Germany? I would think they would be cheaper over there. I will be installing the ones I bought on the grpup purchase next week along with Z06 sway bars. I can't wait to go auto crossing!
Re: Quick answer please on Bilstein sports (tboneinsc)
i am not 100% shure, but i guess Bilstein may produce as well in the states. Especially if the market for one special product is much bigger in USA than in Germany (like gas shoks for a Corvette).
BMW is a german company and the Z3 is a german car, but its produced in the USA.
Re: Quick answer please on Bilstein sports (CR555)
Don
that is the price a friend in Düsseldorf got them for.
If its no problem for you, please order a set for me too. Will pick it up in two weeks. Can pay as soon as you like.

Re: Quick answer please on Bilstein sports (Jochen)
Jochen, my good young friend,
all I know is that they are produced in Germany. Anyway, the price here is fine.
When will you and your lady pass Stuttgart again, to empty our refridgerator?
Ewald aka Frederik
Re: Quick answer please on Bilstein sports (C5 Frederik)
 I'll order them first thing in the morning for both of us!
These Bilstein shocks are manufactured in Germany indeed, but exclusively for the American market. Nevertheless, you still can get them in Germany, but only on special order. I was just lucky they had a few left (three complete sets), otherwise waiting time would be three months!
Re: Quick answer please on Bilstein sports (C5 Frederik)
MidAmerica has them for $299 as well. Try shox.com. They email quotes and should be able to beat that price. Tell them how much MidAmerica or Ecklers quoted you to ship them to Germany and then email shox.com and see if they can beat the price.

LOL....the "gas" is not gasoline. I believe it is nitrogen.
There are air freight restrictions on compressed gases.
However Bilstein sports are made in Germany. Mine were anyway.
