I have to say NeptuneBill is the man in my book. Imagine the look on the porsche driver's face when he was thinking it was time to show the plastic car who was boss. Ah teacher become da student. He took one for the team.
I agree with the 'trip' of modding being all the fun. I can't remember who's quote it was on the forum but it is kind of fun to do the impossible. Since your car did it, Bill, I may pass. No need to re-invent the wheel. Drive safe guys....Helps to have a badge though!
One last thing for NeptuneBill, I see you are using the 1.8's as I am. I have 11:1 cr with ls6 heads....what are the cam specs you have to give me an idea of what the limits are as far as piston to valve clearance. Thanks. :auto:
The limit mentioned by many above is true when at stock ride height, level road and no wind. Slightly lowered, with a bit of downhill grade and/or a tailwind, you'll find an otherwise stock C5 coupe can continue to accelerate well above the advertised limit after upshifting to 6th. I would guess tailwinds to be the biggest factor. My speedo was always optimistic by 3 around the 180 mark compared to GPS, and I would guess again that most other M6s are too.
Go to Texas or Nevada and try an open road race. The first time they'll wisely put a big limit on you, so go again.
