Kirban shifter upgrade
I originally put in a Ripper in my C5 but felt the detents had to much pressure for daily driving and open track use (great for drag racing). I then put in a Kirban, which I cut an inch off of before installing. It still was a bit aggressive with detent pressure but I felt it was a better balance than the Ripper for a daily driver. About a month ago I sent a note to Kirban telling them that while I like their shifter I would be happier if the detent pressue was a just a little bit less. SURPRISE SURPRISE, they talked to the supplier and sent me new springs and top plate!.....no charge! Upon inspection it appears the springs are just a bit smaller guage (very small deference) and the top plate that the springs fit into has been drilled with a bit deeper pocket.
Results, just the right detent pressure for a daily driver that gets open track use. It still has an extremely solid machined feel, but it takes just a bit less effort to select the off center gears. I think this will make my open track sessions even more enjoyable.
I was really impressed that the Kirban folks didn't just blow off my request, but actually helped me get the shifter just the way I wanted it......very nice folks!!! :yesnod:
