My RIGHT side REAR turn signals have stopped working.
hazard lights work
brake lights work
When brake or hazards are on and I move the signal stick up to turn right, the rear right lights go out altogether.
The front right blinker blinks very quickly.
I pulled the right rear bulbs and they look OK.
I checked fuses 8&15 and both are OK.
What am I not checking?
Is there a relay that is not in either of the fuse panels?
Is the problem in the signal stick on my strg column?
I had a different but similar problem, my right side brake lights quit working but all else worked fine. I troubleshot it from the back of the car all the way to the front, and decided that the turn signal lever assembly was at fault. I was still under warranty at the time, so I took it to the dealer. The assembly was like $300, so I paid the deductible and got it fixed. I posted up here about the problem, and got many replies telling me to check the turn signal lever assembly for problems like this. I would run the test procedure in the service manual, it will pretty much pin it down for you without starting at the back of the car. Hope this helps.
I had to put in a new lever switch too. Took about 30 minutes-an hour. I took it apart and found that the contacts had corrosion on them. I cleaned them up and is OK. You can try spraying inside the switch with some contact cleaner, but you have to take it out to get in there real good. Pain in the butt because you have to low under the column.
Both of my rear turn signals do not work. The fronts blink twice as fast. I relaced the hazard/4-way flasher switch, but no luck. I have a "Provisional" 97 FSM, but the procedure to troubleshoot says check terminal C231 or something, but it doesn't say where on the car that is. I am also looking for ground distribution cell 14.
The manual I have is VERY confusing. How do I get to the turn signal switch so I can check the contacts?
I also have a problem with my right rear brake lights. All other lights work on the car. The right rear parking lights and turn signals work. Both right rear brake lights don't work. Could this be the bulbs(doesn't seem logical)? If not the bulbs, what should I check first? Thanks, SCOTT :smash:
Just had the directional signal lever assembly replaced in my Y2K FRC. Directionals had intermitent failure. Still under warranty so Dealer replaced at no charge. Same thing with drivers side seat rails. :chevy
It's been pretty well documented on other threads that turn signals intermittent failure is caused by the hazard light switch (red triangle). Apparently this same switch is used in many GM cars. I had this problem myself, maybe once a month. Next time it happens, give your dash a good thump right in the middle over the switch - I've been able to "test" this several times, and I can always get it to come back this way.
