Default Ignition Problems with 2003

Hi all,

Looking for some help. Has anyone had ignition problems with a 2003?

When we attempt to start our 2003 AE there is a 5 seconds pause between the time the key is turned fully to the right and the car actually starting. We have also start to get a B0605 code from the BCM.

Any hints on what could have suddenly gone wrong. This has never happened before and happened today for the first time just after washing the car and happens everytime we start the car since then.

Thanks

Willie

From the 2003 repair manual:
DTC B0605 is BCM Internal Memory Malfunction (body control module)
It is trigerred when the ignition is first turned on and the EEPROM checksum in the BCM does not agree with the checksum stored when the key was last turned off.
If this is both a current and a history DTC, then the repair manual says the module needs to be replaced.
I do not know what would cause the 5 sec delay in starting, though it certainly could be related.

The BCM could very well be the culprit on the delay, internal to the BCM is the starter enable relay. If it has an internal fault as the code suggests it probably is effecting the starter also.
