Ok i'm getting a head and cam package from FLP next month on my 01 z. The cam I'm going with is their stage three package which is a (Intake .227 duration .570 lift / Exhaust .233 duration .578 lift with a 114 LSA) I was promised by Mitch that this would be a VERY lumpy sounding cam. My Question is does anyone have anything similar?. What does it sound like? I have also heard that going with a 112 LSA will be the only wayto produce the lumpy sound. I always thought that a bigger duration cam is what produced the lumpy idle    PLEASE HELP UNEDUCATED ZLOVER
I have a 01 Zo6 m6. What do you mean by a good all around cam??
As I mentioned I want a very aggressive lumpy idle. (Shake the :reddevil out of me idle.)
Sorry, wasnt paying enough attention. The lumps start happening around 292 degrees advertised duration. And then all the work is all done at higher RPM's. It will be a little sluggish at lower RPM's, but with the horsepower gain, it is worth it. And your exhaust note takes on a whole different sound. I prefer something in the 280 advertised duration. I have put them in a few small block chevys, and if it was for someone else, they always came back smiling. It depends on how and where you drive. :chevy
1993 Venom, Quickie350 is quoting duration at 0.000" lift, and you are quoting duration at 0.050" lift, so his numbers mean nothing compared to your numbers.
If you idle the cam at 750rpms and run with no mufflers, it'll sound sorta lumpy. I have a similar cam on a 114lsa and if I make it idle at 900 and put cats on its really stealthy, sounds almost stock. The exhaust setup and idle speed really helps determine the lope as much as the cam you choose. If you get that cam on a 112lsa it'll lope a bit more and probably stink a bit more too.

Thanks for the imput. I will be running the FLP longtube setup with no cats and B&B PRTs exhaust. I mentioned to Mitch at FLP that I would like to run a 112LSA but he was not to excited with that since they have not experimented with that before. I only wish I could hear the cam he uses before install.
