Has anyone adjusted the Rev Limiter on a stock C5? I have a 98 stock LS1.
It has a 6K redline, but the rev limiter seems to cut out at 5800-5900 and the engine feels like it has a lot more to give! What is the highest setting used out there safely? did you all stay at stock settings unless you did a cam/springs change?
I raised mine when FLP tuned my car with LS1 Edit. My dyno showed the curve was starting to go back down near redline so I didn't raise the limit because it was still pulling. I raised it because, like you, I have hit the limiter while attempting to shift at redline. I just didn't like to bump the limiter, so I had them raise it to 6300.
Even with a stock motor I raised mine to 6,200. The reason it seems to be kicking in early is because the stock tach "lags", especially in first gear under WOT.
