I recently read a couple of posts about squeaky belts, Saturday I'm out and what do I hear at a red light, my belt squeaking!!! It was most noticable at idle and would disappear at 1,200 -1,300 rpm. When I got home I tried an old remedy that I remember seeing done as a kid, a bar of soap rubbed against the belt while engine running (in this case Irish Spring).
This is not something to be done if you are not extremely careful, running belts will mess up fingers very badly if you are careless! I was careful and there is room to get to the belt in a couple of different spots, so far the squeak is gone, and the engine smells fresh and clean. :D
