Blackwing with Airbox cover - does it help? Vortex vs. Blackwing?
Hi,
I see that lots of people like the blackwing filter, and many report good gains with them on the dyno... What is the consensus for 2001+ LS1 HP gains?
Next question:
Does the cold air "box" for an extra 50-60 bucks help much? I ask becuase the photos suggest the box does not really seal the cold air "port" as it looks like hot air can still get to the filter even with the box in place... Is this true? Has anyone done an unofficial test before and after the box with a G-Tech or dyno to appreciate any gains? How about SOTP?
Final question:
Has anyone directly comapred the Vortex to the Blackwing? Results?

I think you'll get similar results from all of them, maybe a handful of hp more from the Vortex or Vararam. I have read that the Blackwing cover causes surging issues, and some or many vendors have stopped carrying it. :seeya
