I thought it was awkward to run the filter lines over to the wheel well so I attached mine to the air filter/fan housing by drilling 2 small holes in the edge and tie wrapping the filter with 90 degree barbs on it. Notice I also moved the PCV valve beyond the filter and just before the intake. I have yet to notice any oil in the filter but I haven't done any WOT's since the installation either.

Nice RED Xs....
From your description, I too placed the filter by the fan shroud, and drilled 2 small holes inthe palstic guard for my tie wraps. It is very solid and looks "clean"
I have my filter BEFORE my PVC valve as well, with the PVC valve sitting right before the Intake area also.... still dont understand why people place the Fitler AFTER the PVC valve
I've been working on a little pcv mod of my own. You can see it in my webshots page at http://community.webshots.com/user/waterfreak in the folder labled "Coil Relocates, PCV MOD, CCW Wheels". The pictures are labled PCV Mod 1, PCV Mod 2 and PCV Mod 3. The system utilizes a GReddy Oil Bypass catch can right after the PCV valve. It is quite large and can hold a lot of oil. It also has a tube that runs vertical along the side of the can to show you how much oil has accumulated in the can. Since intalling it I have not had a drop of oil in my throttle body or intake manifold behind the throttle body. The system is still in "mock up" stage in the pictures, but you can get the drift. I'm going to make a nice polished bracket and add braided stainless steel lines.

I just uploaded them to the webpage. Sometimes it takes them up to a half hour before they are available for public viewing. You should be able to see them now.
Re: Another way to do the PVC mod...... (Waterfreak)
Waterfreak,
Nice photos. My GReddy catch can is mounted in almost the same place with a plate spaced 3/8" from the head but bolted to the head. No extended road trips on it yet. I wondered what you thought of the heat where you have yours mounted, mine hets very warm but seems acceptable.

The temporary bracket is bolted to the head as will be the permanent one. It gets hot, but it really doesn't matter if it's hot as long as it catches and holds the oil.
The purpose is to isolate the oil that blows by the pcv valve so that it doesn't enter the intake manifold and get burned.
Re: Another way to do the PVC mod...... (Waterfreak)
All this talk about the PCV mods made me look at my TB and sure enough. There was a ton of oil in the intake and TB. I also pulled the spark plugs and even though the center electrodes were light tan colored (20K miles) The threads and inside area of the plugs were really oily. So I'm putting a filter on the valve cover vent and the PCV line. We'll see how it works.
