Default HELP IVE GOT A PROBLEM!!!

I did the throttle body bypass to the wrong hose and probably got coolant in my oil.My car lost 1/2 power and got up to 298 degrees.I undid the bypass changed the oil and added coolant. Now everything seems ok. I drove it for 1 day approx 75 miles before it got hot...do you think I should be worried???Once again, everything now seems to be ok. :nonod:

What do you think was the volume of coolant in the oil? How much coolant did you have to add to the radiator?

Were any fault codes set? Any exhaust smoke? If so, what color? You might monitor the oil for additional signs of coolant that might indicate a cracked block, etc. Bummer.

F&IGUY:

Coolant is not a good bearing lubricant, but depending on how hard you were driving the car, you may have escaped serious damage.

Personally, I would do a series of about 3 complete oil changes, including the filter. In between each change I would run the engine very easily, under 2000 rpm for several minutes and then change the oil again. From your description, you basically filled the inside of the engine with a mix of oil and anti-freeze and the only way to get the anti-freeze out is to flush the engine repeatedly or take it apart and clean it out. If you did not as yet damage your engine, and you can get all traces of anti-freeze out, then you should have no further problems. Good luck to you, I hope everything works out OK.

:iagree:

Expensive lesson... but one I hope you escaped from without having to replace your engine...

Side note: It was my understanding that the engine shut down and threw codes after 285 deg??

I would change the oil and filter again. Maybe do one of those engine flushes at the gm dealer. You probably decreased the life of your bearing a lil if things are OK now.
