First Mod Complete - Two Joyous Thumbs up!!!
Couldn't resist posting to tell you that I installed the Blackwing and West Coast MAFS on my '99 ragtop . Took less than half an hour to complete :smash: !
Took the car for a test drive and WHOAAAAA what a difference :hurray: .
The car idles better, pulls stronger and sounds great! I'm impressed!
The bad news: The air filter looked like it had not been changed since new - so much for GM certified :mad. Oh well that's water under the bridge... Now I have my Blackwing that never needs replacing, only cleaning...
Man am I glad I passed on ze Boxter! :flag

When I got my Blackwing, there were no installation instructions in, or on, the box. But, I figured that, "It's just an air filter. How hard can it be???" Oh, famous last words. I have an '03 6-speed vert, and therefore don't need the pre-'01 adapter for the Blackwing to MAF connection. But I didn't know that then. I tried for about an hour and a half to get the adapter to go onto the MAF. I figured with no directions, it had to be simple, which meant I must be stupid! Well, the next day when I called WestCoastCorvettes, Todd was initially puzzled too as to why I was having trouble. So, he asked a few of the other techs there, and one of them mentioned that I didn't need the adapter. Low and behold, I took the adapter out, connected the little coupler tubing, and viola!!!!
And the even better news is that I was able to send the adapter to another Forum member who did need it!
