Default Thinking about using Steve Cole for programming your C5?

If so, THINK AGAIN!! First you get to wait months for your Powerloader - with no customer service whatsoever during this time because Steve Cole could give a damn about the customer. Then once you finally get the Powerloader and load it in things are tempoorarily fine. Then inevitably, you do some more mods and need additional programming modifications. No problem - right?? Wrong. It isn't as simple as sending in your $75 and getting the thing back in a reasonable time frame. No get ready and strap it in because then you get to go through this whole bull$^*! scenario all over again lasting several months - just like the last time. Expecting any progress updates while you're waiting? Don't hold your breath if you value your life.

Then you get tired of waiting so you figure screw it - I'm flushg the money I spent on this PL down the toilet because I can't wait a full year to get the thing back so I'll just go shell out a few hundred bucks to have a shop LS1 Edit tune my car. Wrong again. You can't revise and update a PCM once the PL has been used on it - period end of story. That is Steve Cole's way of making sure you don't go anywhere when you're getting screwed arounds for months waiting for your PL to be updated. So you have to go to the dealer and have your PCM flashed back to stock and only then can you retune the entire car for a minor fuel adjustment or a speedometer re-calibration.

Bottom line is that every aspect of Steve Cole's business that deals with the customer sucks beyond comprehension. Why anyone would spend money with a person and company who don't give a damn about taking care of the customer is beyond me. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional and incompotent outfit in my life. With LS1 Edit out now, you really would have to be a glutton for punishment to deal with TTS Powersystems. Lord help the person who enters into a purchase agreement with Steve Cole's company - because you're going to go through hell - literally. I really wish I knew how companies like this stayed in business.

I am sorry to hear about your experience with Steve. However, Steve has been very responsive to me via email. Telephone is a bit more involved. Last time I fried my PCM, Steve fixed it / returned it back to me in 3 days - and I live in KS.

Your preeching to the choir and I ain't singing. :D

I am an Ex-Powerloader user myself and now have to get my PCM reflashed to stock so I can use LS1 Edit and start from scratch due to my recent mods. Many of us have all been there and it isn't a great place to be. He does great work and is nice to speak to when you do talk to him, but the turnarond times the history and track record here on the forum speaks for itself. I'll sit down now. :D

I have been trying to find someone to "HACK" the powerloader chip. I have all the specs on the eeprom. Just need to find somebody to try and read it. If they can I'd like to try and unlock the VIN# from it.. Then we can sell them.

sorry to hear your experience. I've heard that Steve Cole is terrible from so many people who have first hand experience. I only hope that people out there do a search for Steve Cole and read this thread before using him.

If anybody does need a great ls1 edit tuner please email or private message me and I will be happy to give you his email address.

Vettster, I hope that some one figures how to hack the unit or reload the PLll with the GM program to use as a reflash???
Once the PLll is entered you will have to have a factory reflash in order to clear the PLll and do a LS1 edit. I know!!!! :cuss .
Steve did a reprogram on my PLll and it took 8 months to get it back, and then the fuel curves were way lean for the heads and cam setup :cuss
So do the LS1 edit from the start  :flag

I sent my PL in 13 months ago for a gear change. I have never heard from TTS since. I have since replaced my engine and added a SC, so the PL is useless to me. I just hate it that on top of screwing me Steve gets to recycle the hardware I sent back. :mad

I sent my PL back to TTS over 2 YEARS ago now and have never heard anything back, even after confirming with the secretary down there it had arrived. I personally met Steve for the initial tuning on my TA and he seemed real cool, definately had his opinions though...Took six months to get that custom program on the PL to me the first time and it never came back the second time.....TA was sold a while back and the Vette is the new project. It will NEVER see a TTS product!!!

Sorry to hear about your problems. All of my experiences with him have been great and I love the quality of his products. I was frustrated at first because I had to wait for a while to get my power loader...but, RG at exit 28 told me to go down to Steve's shop and Steve walked me through the entire build process and I got to watch him build my PL. Then a few weeks ago I called him when I was having trouble installing my LT headers (that I bought used) and he took the time to walk me through the whole process.

Once again sorry to hear that you have issues with him...but, I haven't had anything but good experiences with him and his products.

Steve can be cool as I have spoken with him a few times, and I got my initial PL in 2 weeks. The reprogramming issues have been here over the last 2 years. Also, look where you live and look where the rest of us live. It is easier to get things done when your in his backyard.
