I'm new to the forum but not to drag racing, I see post for 1/4 mile times, do these times reflect drivers reaction time or does the timing begin when the vehicle breaks the lights at the start? :steering:
Welcome to the Forum. When the car breaks the beam. You can sit at the light for ever, no time other than reaction time will be recorded unless the car moves. I Lived in Stroudsburg 2 years ago. l really don't miss the snow and cold. Down here we get to race year round, what a difference.

What is your experience with drag racing, I thought it was the same every place. Light at the start and the end. I think reaction time only counts in bracket racing.
If you watch NHRA drags they take the time when the christmas tree light turns green to when the car trips the light on the other end. That's how they can run a faster quater mile time but still lose, sleeping at the light(reaction time).
That's why I questioned the times that are posted.
My experience with drag racing is basically only as an observer for 34 years.
I have only followed Pro drag racing.
