I am interested in anyones evaluation of PFC Z-rated pads for normal use and also occasional Autocross/Track use. I used PFC's once before on my 94 Trans Am and they had no cold stopping ability, which is a little scary in an emergency situation. Are these a good all around pad?

My goal was the same but I went with EBC Reds from http://www.tirerack.com/
I get, at least, OEM bite when cold, and they work quite well at the track. I have also heard good things about the PFC Z but haven't tried them. I actually had a set I sold after I went with the Reds.
THe PFC 01 compounds are awesome (cold or hot) but they are a little noisy. I have no problem stopping on them when they are cold, and they stop like there's no tomorrow at the track/autox.

Re: PFC Z-rated Brake Pads ? (Bob25thTA)
Bob,
I highly recommend and sell the PFCM "Z" pad. They are mearly ok when cold (I tend to rest my left foot on the brake, leaving my house in the morning, and they are good to go (or I should say STOP) when I get to the first stop sign two blocks away). After that warm-up they are great. We have been installing them for over one year and haven't had any noise problems associated with several other high performance brake pads that we had sold in the past. Now we only sell PFCM and TBM (The Brake Man). TBM pads are awesome too, but some folks are reluctant to try them as they have never heard of them before.

Let me know If I can ship you a set.
:iagree: Same pads I use. Lopve them compared to my old KFP Gold's. Lot less dust, and great stopping for my backroads blasts. :D
They are a nice compromise street/light track use pad. They work better when warm, but cold stopping is OK. They dust a bit more than stock, but not pad. I haven't used them on my Z06, but had a set on my '96 Trans Am WS6, which I tracked a lot (and soon graduated to more aggresive pads).
If you get them, be sure to bed them properly (as you should with any pad). This will help a great deal in cold stopping as well as help them work their best when warm.

:iagree: I had PFCs on my 94 Z28 and my 93 Corvette. They do dust a bit and squeek but they work on the street or spirited twisty cruises ;) :yesnod:
I'm thinking about trying Hawks on the C5 but have not decided.

Re: PFC Z-rated Brake Pads ?
I just put these on the front of my 01 Z06. So far, I've had them on for a little over a month and have been through a short track day (three 20 minute sessions). As everyone else states, they are ok when cold and work really well once they have warmed up. Stopping power when cold is about the same as the stock 01 pads, but definitely better after one decent stop. They have not harmed the rotors at all after the track day, nor do they put out any more dust or noise than the 01 Z pads. I was actually thinking about ceramic pads for daily use, but the PFC Zs have been just fine. No noise, and not enough dust to be a major problem (I wash the car at least once a week though). FYI you can pick these up at Autozone with a lifetime warranty. They don't keep them in stock, but can usually have them the next day. On a similar topic, I was actually planning on replacing the rears with the PFC Zs as well, but the stock rear pads held up just fine to track use. No noticeable wear, and our track (Hallett) is very hard on brakes. Once they wear out I'll put the PFC Zs on, but apparently the stock compound is much better than on the C4s. I know I went through a set of stock C4 pads on my 92 at Hallet in one day. Then I switched to the PFC Zs on it and didn't have any more problems. I will say that the PFC Zs on the C4 squeled a LOT, and dusted a ton. I'm not sure if PFC changed the pad compound slightly for the C5, or if it's the brake design, but there is a night and day difference between how the work on the C4/C5.

Re: PFC Z-rated Brake Pads ? (EvanZ06)
I didn't know that the "Z" pads sqeeked on the C4s , but we have had no noise from them at all on the C5s. The Hawk pads on the C5 had caused us alot of noise complaints from our customers so we pulled them all off, and put "Z" pads on and haven't had any problems since.

Yeah, I found it wierd myself. I used the PFC Zs extensively on my 95 Firebird Formula that I raced a lot. I used them for about three years (and used the Autozone lifetime warranty deal several times :D ), and never really had much problem with dusting or squeeking. They did squeek some, but would quite down after blasting the dust off the calipers/rotors/pad, or after doing some hard stops. The Z has been completely quite. The C4 however started squeeking really bad after I put them on and nothing I could do fixed it. I even took them back after 6 months and got a new set under warranty to try and fix it.
