I am in the process of lowering my 2000 vert with Z06 wheels and tires. I bought the new long bolts from WCC. MYy questions are on the longer bolts how far do I tighten them down and do I need to put something on the threads to keep them from backing off. I swapped them out last night and left 3 or 4 threads showing and the rear is almost on the tire. There is some nylon in the nut and mybe that will keep it from backing off. Looked in the tech tips but didn't see anything about the longer bolts. Going to do the front tonight and cut the rubber. Mike    :blueangel:

Re: Question on Lowering?? (BigLew)
Mike,
The nylon in the "Nyloc nut" will keep them from turning. I believe that those bolts are 7" long so with 4 or so threads showing you should be quite low in the rear. You might now have the new experience of scraping on everything, and that comforting feeling of the suspension bottoming out, but at least you will be looking very cool.
Let me know if you are interested in some "Ground obstruction" - damage control products - Radiator support skids, Rocker panel savers and spoiler stiffeners.
Mike,
Depends how low you want the rear. You added almost 2" of thread over stock with the longer bolts. Not trying to be funny here but where did you think the rear would set after that much difference? ;)
There are about 15 threads per inch with fine thread bolts. If you have those bolts then figure how much higher you want the rear, count the threads and tighten the bolts that amount. I would start high, like 1"higher, then lower from there. Much safer.
Good luck with it. Let us know how the front went.

What's up neighbor??? How did your hood turn out, and did you get that blower tuned in? Good to see that you are lowering your car. If you don't have the rocker rails and frame saver combo from A&A Corvettes yet I would invest in these. I scrape all over the place in Greensboro. As I was telling you at UNO's a couple of weeks ago I had my back surgery so I will be out of commission for awhile. See ya at the show on the 18th though. As far as lowing the front you might(???) be low enough without cutting the bushings just by tightening them all the way, I didn't cut mine and don't think I would want to be any lower. My sig really doesn't show how low the front is. Good luck!

If you are using 7" bolts you will be wanting to cut your front bushings. :yesnod:
Mike, I've got the WCC bolts also... my final setting was 13 threads on the right side showing and 14 threads showing on the left.... both sides are dead even.
Thanks for all of the info. I got the rear done onTuesday night, everthing went ok. I wasn't sure about how many threads to leave so I have only about 4 showing and I don't think that is going to work. You can barley get your hand between the tire and the fender, but thats no big deal I can always tighten it down. Worked on the front last night, now that was fun. Bottom ball joints were a little hard to get loose, but I managed. I got one side finished and back together and the other side apart, just need to cut the bushing. I cut the drivers side at 2/3's and tighten it all the way down. I hope it will be ok, guess I see when I drop it down. Any ideas on alinment? :D :blueangel:
