Default Day Time Running Lights

Does anybody know if it's possible to disable day time running lights and how to do so?

It is definitely possible. Search the past threads, there was an explanation of which fuse to pull etc. I do not remember the specifics.

To easy, fuse box under hood on passenger side, pull fuse #2. The ONLY other thing that will change is; when you unlock your doors with the key fob, the rear back up lights will not come on. Glad I am more stealth!!! :flag

I was just wondering the same thing myself. You just aren't as menacing when everyone knows its a Vette from so far away. Thanks for the tip.

Glad I found this thread. The dealer told me there was no way to turn off the daytime running lights. They are manditory in Canada according to the manual. After reading this thread, I dashed out to the garage to pull the #2 fuse, which is almost dead center in the middle of the fuse box.

I'm stealthy once again and feels soooooooooo good!

The easiest way to disable DRL's is to click your headlight switch up one notch to the park position. This turns off the DRL's and turns on the side marker lights which cannot be seen from the front... I'm not sure, but I think if you pull #2 fuse, you also disable the turn signals and the emergency flasher function...

When I put the switch into the parking light position, the DRL lights go off but the front parking lights turn on. There not as bright as the DRL's but they are on.

Looks really good with the front lens blacked out! esp. when you run with just the markers on! I do that all the time, I have the the really good dark plexi blackouts on the front.

Wrong on both counts. DRLs are a dual filament bulb, where DRL/turn signal use the high intensity portion, while the parking lights use the lower intensity. And yes, you can still see them in daylight, plus you have all your other lights on as well.
Turn signal/hazard lights work perfectly with fuse #2 pulled out. However, you lose the 'approach' feature, if equipped. I had it off anyway, since I rarely drive at night and it discharges the already weak battery. It turns all exterior/interior lights ON when car is unlocked with the remote at night.

Oh, I put the now unused #2 fuse in one of 2 'spare' locations, which have the metal brackets inside to hold it in place securely.

This is the solution I use too. I prefer to have the DRL on because they do server a purpose. When I'm in a hurry I simply turn on the parking lights and I no longer stand out.

I pulled fuse#2 labeled APPROACH two years ago and encourage others to do same only if you want the stealth. Let the F-bodies take the heat. Some C-5 owners choose not to go stealth. A pain in the butt to change bulbs if they burn out also. Good luck :smash: :smash:

Interesting comment about being identified as a Vette. Several years ago the comments were the DRLs made the car look like a Camaro or Firebird. How times have changed.
