Re: which exhaust setup for a stroker? (kumar75150)
I'm in the same boat with my Lunati 382 stroker.. :yesnod: Mike Norris sugggested I go with the www.randomtechnolgy.com 2 3/4 off road mid/x-pipe NO Cats for better flow then my 2 1/2 x-pipe. They are being installed this Thursday and off to LS1 Edit for a fine tuning on the Dyno jet Saturday.
Random makes a 3" pipe also...No larger diameter exhausts than 2 1/2 on the aftermarket yet..so I'm gonna stay with my Corsa Indy's :yesnod:
Vince I am considering going to the Cartek headers combined with a 3" exit pipe and a dual 3" exhaust all the way back. Off course it would have to be a custom job.
Re: which exhaust setup for a stroker? (kumar75150)
Vince did you have a problem with your power steering belt coming off? I am going to need a new type of tensioner because my belt just starts to slip and eventually shreds off.
No..:nono: I haven't had such a problem. The tensioner should help though
Re: which exhaust setup for a stroker? (kumar75150)
What size is your motor, assume 346ci, you may find a power loss with this setup unless you have added something to your motor that does not show in your sig, A couple of the ARE 436ci guys lost 20 peak rwhp with the headers, this could just be the diff in the setup of the 436ci motor, but since I am building one I sold my cartek 1 7/8", I think the primary tubes are a bit short on them, the cartek guys are apparently having good success, I am looking at the new Bassani's as the primary tubes are longer and would hopefully get better low and mid range. LPE has a good looking set of 1 7/8" LT's but they want 3 grand for gods sake, I would have to see some serious S on the dyno for 3K
Re: which exhaust setup for a stroker? (NEPTUNEBILL)
Mine is a 395. I am kinda worried now that you mention some lost power with the Cartek package. I was considering the Stainless Works 3" exhaust but there is no way in hell I am paying 1200-1300 for that.
Re: which exhaust setup for a stroker? (kumar75150)
Sorry If I had re-read your post I would have seen the 395, Cartek is using the headers on their cars and getting great numbers, you may want to discuss your motor with them, it could be some of the other tuners havn't spent the time yet to tune the power out of them and Cartek has got it down, I personally would have used the headers but 2 guys with the same motor I'm building did not get good results, but cartek gets more power out of their motors than these other guys so you may want them to tune you if you use the headers, it would be interesting to see what you would dyno if you change them out, the guy at Stainless is making an adapter (in fact I have one here I will not be using, that will adapt the Cartek headers directly to their 3" exhaust system. I agree they are not cheap but they are sweet and sound great, it could be that Cartek can get you a little better price if you buy their complete setup, I am not flaming the headers but the primaries are not very long for my 436ci but mathmatically speaking I think one of the math scholar forum members wrote a formula that would indicate I should have 39" primaries for gods sake and the LGM's are on 32" and look like they would go half way to the rear axle.
