Started up after an errand and every gauge was pinned to either up or down, the message center was flashing every error message it new and every warning light was on. After checking that their was oil in the pan as I had no oil pressure indicators, I drove the 3 miles home. The next day, I went to check the status and the battery was at 8 volts. I disconnected the battery and left for vacation. After I got back, battery had recharged and I reconnected, everything functioning normally again. I am at the dealer and I am not confident he will be able to find anything. Anything I can tell him to check? He had not had experience with those symptoms. He said that a weak battery may cause that but I explained the problem killed the battery not the other way around. He also said that bad grounds have caused weird things to happen. Sounds like guessing, but he is the top vette guy around here reco'ed by this board. 2002, 11,000 miles.
Anybody experience this? Picked it up from dealer and they could not find anything wrong. Claimed they have a notice? for this condition citing loose battery cables. Well, I took the cables off and they were not loose.
Well, pulling the codes from the DIC would have been helpful............that said my car did that once and hasn't since. Complex cars with a mind of their own sometimes. Keep an eye on all gauges and temps of all fluids for a bit (I do this every drive anyway) and see if anythihg seems strange.....maybe check the codes after your next drive to see if any popped up.
Low battery voltage can cause these symptoms. Reseting the PCM's can cause these symptoms. Usually there is no code to retrieve, either. Everything is fine, dont worry!! next time this happens, do like you did: disconnect battery (after pulling the PCM fuses 16 and 23, i believe) and let the PCM cap's shunt for about 2 minutes. Reconnect, put fuses back in, check gauges. all should be good.
