I brought my car in for what seems to be a faulty BCM(driverside windows/memory/doorlocks radio do not work and getting service traction control/reduced engine power/low fuel, etc messages) the dealership is telling me that my Corsa exhaust,FLP headers and vortex is voiding my warranty and they do not want to be bothered!
Is this total BS????? Can those products really void the warranty?
Yes this is total bs. Do a search on the Forum about this. There are laws about warranty issues. Something about only if the part is directly the cause of the failure. Many people here more qualified to assist you. Good luck.
Yes it is BS and I can relate. I get flack at the dealer about warranty crap, about shoddy workmanship on their part, etc... I've all but given up and don't feel like testing out any more local dealers. They can't all be bad?
Step up to the plate dealers! I understand not wanting to warranty my mod work but getting the run around about my mods when it's in for a fuel gauge recall and so on.... I don't have the patience to jerk around negotiating what they will and won't repair on a car with 20,000 miles anymore. I hope to avoid the dealer at all costs this year.
Every city should have one mod friendly dealer. They should encourage mods so much so he installs them and warrantys the work like many of the topnotch vendors on the forum.
The Vette Doctors will be getting my business even though they are 350 miles away.
Sorry to jump on your thread skidmarc, dealer BS :banghead: .
You certainly have a case to get your stuff fixed. I just hope you haven't thrown in the towel like I have. Good thing I've got my GMPP......

The real problem is you kept the dealers name secret? We all need to know how each dealer is going to react to a few minor changes to our cars, when the dealer treats his customers like yours did we'll know enough to buy elsewhere. Good luck on your repair.
:bs :bs :bs :bs :bs
ABS-SO-LUTELY your dealer is feeding you the brown stuff of the male cow! The only way the dealer can refuse to do the repair is if the cause of the failure can be traced to the part or parts that were added or the activity of putting those parts on the car somehow caused the problem. The dealer here actually put my Corsa's on for me because I did not have a lift. and I have headers and X pipes, and all the bolt on's. You may need to get the GM regional guy involved or find another dealership.
I don't know why the dealer would cut his own throat like that as they make some really good money from warranty repair at the dealer level!
There are more than enough posts on this subject if you search, as this topic usually comes up every month or so.
I have even seen the dealer do warranty work in areas that can be marginal based on warranty, like trying to track down why braided brake lines tend to sometimes throw codes.
Some dealers go the extra mile and others won't! just the way it is!
Re: Dealer BS over FLP/Vortex/Corsa (RG in Dallas)
If you drive over a big steel spike and it penetrates your muffler you can put whatever replacement muffler you choose back on. Besides, GM sells Corsa exhausts. Print out the webpage for your dealer. This is a classic case of a dealer seeing a vette roll in and...ca ching ca ching....
When I do mods I'm saving everything that can be swapped out easily just to avoid this. I.E. Do you have your old intake?
From his sig. the only mod that I see that might give BCM problems is the hardwired V1. This is dealer :bs you can not void a BCM warranty claim over motor mods.
You have the GMPP? You don't have to take it to the dealer. They will reimburse other shops. Find a good Vette specialty shop in your area and "F" the thieving dealer.
Have to agree on this. Total BS. Whenever I get a Vette in that seems "fishy" I always notify the customer up front that if it is in anyway related you will be responsible for the repair, not just shut them down completely. They understand and have no problems with that.
As far as mod friendly dealers...there are alot of us out there.
There's an act called the Magnunson-Moss Act. I had to do the same with my truck. The guy told me my fuel pressure gauge voided the warranty on my dying fuel pump. Then he said that the amp for my subs voided all of my electrical warranty. Even the computer. I told him :bs and GAVE him his own copy of the act. He promptly replaced the fuel pump. :D To bad it was with an already dead pump. :mad
Re: Dealer BS over FLP/Vortex/Corsa (Mike Mercury)
I have guided the dealer service deptment thru the tunnel of ignorance towards the light!
My C5 is fixed minus the seat adjuster which they say costs $700 and had to get ok'd first.....I had mixed emotions on that since many members have had it done and the darn seat rocks a few months down the line again anyhow.....Should pick it up tommorow. I know for a fact the tech was caught off guard by the way I communicated with him talking about codes/parts, etc.....he said "wow you seem pretty knowledgable about your car" And to that all I have to say is THANKS BROTHERS for all the advice/tips/opinions over the years......it pays off in soo many different ways!
Hopefully the car is truley fixed and will not have to return to the service again!
The tech didnt call yet...but once I find out what the problem was..I am guessing bad ground/BCM I will post all facts!
