Default Which tuner would you pick?.........

I'm in the process of trying to figure out which tuner I want to take my :auto: to, come August or September for a head and cam package! I've been browsing around and have looked up many of previous threads about almost all of the supporting vendors here. To say each one has there own special package is an understatement  I'm basically going by this basis for now: Heads, cam, tuning, and labor, not to mention the turnaround time(don't want to be without the Vette for too long). Another quick question I would like to ask is the LS6 heads worth the extra money and worth the little extra HP, you get from them?
I'm broken it down to 3 tuners from which I will eventually choose:

LPE- great customer service, awesome customer satisfaction(by the way I've read so many good stories about LPE and how they please their customers)
They are also not too far away from where I live, which is a plus! They also have a 2 year, 24,000 mile warranty, which I'm not sure anyone else has, if they do they don't promote it! Last but not least is, when someone asks where you got it done at, you can say " LIGENFELTER"!!

Cartek: Have read so many success stories of them on this board!! :) They defientely seem to have their stuff together. They are putting out the best packages to date, with very good results. Customer satisfaction is awesome with Cartek!!! Wouldn't mind the trip to NJ if it'll be worth it!!

Vette Doctors: Another very good forum vendor with awesome creditals. Long trip but seems like a very trustworthy business, they have been around for quite some time!

Not trying to start a flame between vendors, would just like anyones honest opinion and there experience with the mentioned tuners! :yesnod:

They all have somewhat affordable packages  and seem to be competitevely priced within one another! Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated!

Good luck and keep us posted. BTW...I did a Best Tuner in the Great Lakes area...might want to search for that....had LPE/and some others you might want to investigate.

If you want max hp, Cartek.

If you want reliability and mild-mannered and warranty, then LPE.

I am not that fmiliar with Corvette Doctors.

I'd go with Lingenfelter. They're close and excellent. You can go mild to wild with them ..give Ed Potter ( Their Rep) a call. :yesnod: :yesnod:

Happy with mine with 450+ @ 6600 rpm ran great at the track events. I would not bother with the LS6 heads unless you need every last bit. See "THE DEBT DOCTORS" :D

My vote has to go to the Vette Doctors full service shop with an excellent reputation for making power with reliability. Good luck with your project.

I have nothing but great things to say about the Vettedoctors. They not only do tremendous work, they also really go the extra mile to make the customer happy. Carmen Dennis and Joey really treat you like family, check them out you won't be sorry.

All the tuners you picked are great. Pick your closest one (LPE) and do it.

All the tuners you picked are great.
:iagree: :iagree: I'm sure any of these tuners will do what you want, i.e., mild to wild, and do it well, so assuming their respective packages are roughly equal in performance, it would seem that price, convenience, and service will be your controlling factors. Good luck.

Thank you guys for the quick replies!! ;) I think, from the responses, the wisest thing for me to do would be to be rational upon my head and cam purchase! LPE it's going to be! It being just 175 miles away has a lot to do with it!! :yesnod: Wish I lived on the East Coast because there are so many great tuners to chose from. Chose LPE because it is closer and if I need a re-tune it wouldn't take a week or so to take care of!! Still don't see why there isn't a decent shop here in Bowling Green or even Nashville for that matter. :cry
I'll be going with a pretty wild package from LPE! Decent size cam with about .600 lift, increased compression to about 11:01, LS6 intake, and stage 3 porting with 3.73 gears in my M6. Any RWHP predictions????? Thinking about 440 maybe, hopefully, if so I'll be one happy camper :lolg:
Thanks guys!!!!!!!!! :chevy :chevy :flag :D

GREAT CHOICE  but i think your rwhp our abit high as LPE does a great balance power and reliability and street manners. I say 420rwhp  Just don't want your expectations to get too high as that's the best way to get LET DOWN!

You made a GREAT DECISION and will be VERY HAPPY SOON!

The real answer is: All the above. These are ALL well respected proven tuners and you should be happy with any one you pick. Of course those that use a certain one will say they are the only choice.....and you will always find an unhappy customer since it is impossible to please all. But pick one that is close & proven and enjoy the results!!!!

TEA is in Bowling Green and their ported heads have been giving great results. I wish they were a supporting vendor. :yesnod:

LPE is more oriented towards emmissions, and drivability than some other tuners as a result rwhp maybe a bit lower. Discuss with everyone tuner you consider your goals for the car.

Mallett is not to far from you and is a supporting vendor.

I am sure all the choices listed well treat you well.

You may want to give us a look at http://www.dynotech-eng.com

We are only 28 miles from LPE and I was formerly employed by them and have since opened my own shop in Fort Wayne, IN.

You listed 3 very good choices.

I would also consider local as well.

You will have to make the ultimate decision. Talk to each of them. This is a fairly large investment in your car.

I am very happy with The Vette Doctors' work and they have my car right now waiting for the next batch of mods. They were able to get my cammed A4 with stock heads to run 122 MPH which is quite impressive.

See other mods and video in my sig

Good luck with you decision making.

One of the main considerations that I would have would be how close the tuner is to you. The closer the better. It's much easier to get good customer service if they know you'll be dropping by. Warranty repairs are also much easier.

I'm lucky that I live in Houston where there are a few good tuners. Hopefully I'll be in your position soon.
