I picked up the headers from the coater this afternoon and I'll be dropping my car off at Mike Norris' tromorrow to get 'em installed :D
I've set up the install to include a dyno before hand to get a baseline (although I've dyno'd with Mike before and haven't made any changes) then install the headers, do a little driving re-learn followed by another dyno pull, then an LS1Edit tune and a final dyno to get the good #s :D
I just got the headers and hi-flow cats, no xpipe....so I'm going from stock with cats to headers with cats....apples-apples comparison on an intake/exhaust car :D I'm also installing new plugs and wires at the same time, but that should be negligible :)
Now for the question :D
I also have an LS6 Intake sitting in my den and although I'd really like to have a true gauge as to what these headers can and will add, I'm VERY tempted to have the intake thrown on as well, but that would thrown the true gain #s from the headers off :(
So, what would you do?
Get the headers installed alone, and do the intake later, doing pre-post dynos to see the gains from an LS6 Intake....or
Get the headers and intake installed and be done with it, who cares what the headers give ya #s wise....

Mark..... Get the Headers and the Intake at the same time. Your car is not stock anyway. While he's under the hood just get it done.
By the way LS EDIT will be done Tuesday in my car. :reddevil
Just tuning a little for the Challenge. :D
Re: Got a Small Dilemma, Installation/Testing Advice Please! (16Again)
That's kinda what I figured would be the majority of the feedback :D
I'm leaving for the weekend on Friday and can't wait for Monday to roll around to pick her back up and I can't wait to hear how you make out with yours :D
You and I should be VERY close in #s once my gears and converter get installed :D

Is Keith doing the tuning :)
Looking forward to OUR big race. Sent IM regarding tuning.

What would you do with the number? Seriously, you have the parts, they will all go on the car sooner or later, so I would do it all at once. The only thing the really matters is the final number. If you were performing a ROI analysis you would be in trouble. :jester

Me too Bob :D

I hear ya :D....my only reasoning was to see exactly what the headers are gonna give me, and it'd be nice info to pass along :)
As for the ROI.....OH HELL NO, you're right on the money there :D
Re: Got a Small Dilemma, Installation/Testing Advice Please! (Mean Green 2000)
I would do everything at once. I don't see a real advantage to knowing what each mod buys you, (unless of course you are selling the mods as a vendor) - the bottom line is the bottom line. At the end of the day, dyno numbers are just that, and don't mean much unless you like to drive on dynos ;) Get you bottom line numbers, then take it to the 1/4 mile dyno :smash: :smash: :smash:

Oh, I know that Jfpilla....and you're right, it is curiosity :D

You know I'll be at the track with her soon enough :D.....got over 140 passes now, and I don't see me letting up anytime soon :D
Re: Got a Small Dilemma, Installation/Testing Advice Please! (Mean Green 2000)
I guess I'll post the dissenting opinion.
If you do it all at once, and are not pleased with your gains, you can't be sure which part isn't contributing the expected gain. With knowledge of what each individual piece adds to horsepower you might make different mod choices next time around. Maybe you'll find the gains from the intake weren't worth its cost.
Re: Got a Small Dilemma, Installation/Testing Advice Please! (Mean Green 2000)
Mark, why not get the intake thrown on after the first dyno runs are done with your new headers on the car. Then you will know the raw header numbers, and then what the numbers are with ls6 intake and tuning after the new headers.
