Default Headers, Exhaust, and sound

I'm currently stock, but eventually, I'll probably end up doing the beginner's stuff... you know, I/H/E or I/E for the time being.

My question is, I know someone that has all three, and his Z06 sounds awesome. But how much of the sound is from the intake/headers and *not* the exhaust? (Borla Stingers by the way...) I was told that headers do a bit to the sound. What could I expect if I went Stingers first, and then Vararam / Blackwing, (...) ?

the intake isn't going to affect sound much, if at all. stingers sure will though! I went with blackwing first, then stingers, headers to come. from what I've heard, headers will increase volume a bit but lower the overall tone of the exhaust note.

I have the FLP headers with cats removed and Stingers. System is very aggressive and loud but in my opion sounds awesome. Hellacious sound at WOT. They will definately know you are coming!

I did stingers then vararam. The stingers are quite loud (mine don't give me resonance). I just had TPIS headers put on the other week.

Idle is a bit louder (more rumble and deeper tone).

Just driving around is about 10-15% louder.

Cruising at 70 is the same.

WOT screams maybe 20% louder, but not intrusive.

Headers are a great mod. Rpm's spool up quicker and better throttle response. Still get great gas mileage too.

I would suggest that if you don't have a local shop that puts in headers all the time to get one of the complete bolt on systems. Otherwise you could end up paying the mechanic to learn how. Lots of welding included in the TPIS system. A great header at a good price if you have local corvette tuners.

:iagree: They sound MEAN at WOT. Love the sound. Maybe a little too loud even for my taste. I have ringing ears after I drive
