After market T-Stat falls apart

I wasn't getting any heat in the motor so I pulled the t-stat.
It was the type that has the t-stat "pinned" in.
The "legs" were snapped.
I can't remember what brand it was but the box had a big red LS1 on it.
After putting the stock one back in I looked for what could have caused the failure.
The spring pressure was unbelievable ! It barely compressed at all.
No wonder it pulled the "legs" apart !
Glad I caught it before bits went thru to the WP !
