Got a SDM no comm code after replacing my instr cluster. My car is a 98 and the cluster came out of a 2001.
I dont recall ever seeing this module code before.
Anyone know what this is??
Okay, I have a 2001 C5 and according to my Helms Manuals - you do have a set of these manuals, right? According to my manuals, SDM = Sensing and Diagnostic Module.
The manual says you will need to use your scan tool to clear the DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) and then operate the car normally. If you get a DTC again, you will need to go step by step and look to see if you have all instrument cluster connections tight and plugged in correctly. I took my cluster out to install Indiglo gauges about a year ago and, as I recall, there is only a primary cable plug and the HUD connections. Does your 1998 have a HUD? If not, that may be causing the PCM to think your HUD is malfunctioning.
Do you know what numeric error code you received with the DTC? That would help to zoom in on the problem.

I have the same code after installing HUD im my 98 (not sure what year the cluster is from, I picked it up at Carlisle last summer) but please post any info you find

Yes, I added hud as well as swapping out the cluster.
Everything seems to be operating fine as far as I can tell, any thoughts would be appreciated. Just don't know if this module is in the 01's or in 98's because I never noticed it before.
