Can anyone tell me what the rubber hose that connects to the air intake is for? It's the hose that runs down the front of the vehicle on the driver’s side about an inch or so in diameter.
It is for the air injection that adds air to the exhaust to help burn off unburnt fuel in the cat. converter. Up front in the facia is the air pump that is were it goes.
Actually, it's the factory pre-install for the Mileage Extender Module (MEM) due out this fall for all C5's. Just hook up the Extender to the hose and your gas mileage climbs to 28mpg in town and 42mpg on the highway.
The Extender is supposed to be standard equipment on all 2004 C5 models. It's part of GM's CAFE fuel management initiative required by the EPA.

Rumor has it that you can also tap into this line with a "Y" connector and add the horsepower enhancement solenoid (HES). This is an aftermarket device that's expected to add 8-10 RWHP. :lolg: :lolg: :lolg:

I just installed it and I'm getting almost 45 gallons to the mile but I can do it at the speed of light. Oh, I almost forgot I added Pure Slick to my wax and I think that helped too. :lolg:
