The passenger climate control **** on my 02 Coupe does not seem to make any difference in either heat or cool mode. Also, A/C doesn't seem to be too cold. Anyone else seen this? I don't really want to take it to the dealer and have them rummage through the car trying to break more than they fix...
HVAC Controls Intermittently Inoperative or Improperly Responding (Reset HVAC Controller) #03-01-39-004 - (04/14/2003)
HVAC Controls Intermittently Inoperative or Improperly Responding (Reset HVAC Controller)
1997-2003 Chevrolet Corvette
Condition
Some customers may comment that the HVAC controller may have become intermittently inoperative or erratic in operation. In most all cases, the HVAC controller will function normally when the vehicle is examined by the technician. Additional comments may include a variance in the air temperature from driver to passenger side air vents.
Cause
The customer may be turning the temperature **** from warm to cool or from cool to warm very rapidly. Under certain conditions, if the temperature **** is rotated very quickly, it may exceed the ability of the HVAC controller to interpret the desired action.
Correction
Cycling the key to the off position will power off the HVAC controller and reset it, restoring normal function to the HVAC system on the next vehicle start. Instruct the customer that this is a normal function of the unit and that no repairs are necessary.
Warranty Information
You may want to provide the customer with a copy of this bulletin so that if the condition occurs in the future, the customer will not need to return to the dealership.

I'm not having a problem with the climate contrl **** on this, but my LCD display has gone out, and now I cannot see what it is set on. Just wondering if you have experienced anything along those lines. Right now, I feel like I'm the only one who has had this problem.
Good luck on getting your passenger control **** fixed, and I sympathize with you on trying to keep the "everyday" mechanics out of it.
Re: Climate control problem on 02 C5 (bowtiebandit)
Thanks for the info bowtie. Do you know how long the car is normally kept at a dealership for this? Got to take it in for an emissions check engine light fix as well. Will they have to pull the heads for this? Thanks, Nightmare
Re: Climate control problem on 02 C5 (NIGHTMARE...2001)
tHe control head,ie the piece with the display takes about an hour at the most to replace and calibrate. Your SES light could be another story. Have one hear with 72 codes in it. :mad
