Installed a 160F in the LS1 -Z28, but its so hot here in Fla cars will always exceed that temp even with fan switch, so thinking of a 180 for the Vette. Opinions?. Got a Diablo programmer on the way so will turn on fans earlier along with fine tuning factory settings. Just installed a 2 filter system and it looks and feels great, drilled holes behind ZO6 screens. http://www.procarparts.com/store/dis...-CORV-9701-AIS
Just got to get this red slug to move out as well as the old Z28 which was I guess just a naturally fast car! with minor mods. http://home.att.net/~sy13/corvetteogc5.html
Thanks for any other cooling down tips and suggestions.

The 160 will keep you at 176-178 at highway speeds. On the "cold" Miami winter nights I've seen it hit 160's. The 160 thermo is good here-but up north I'd go with a 172...

:iagree:
And oil temperatures are still around 192*-198* :yesnod:
I agree with both statements. In almost any ambient temp, my coolant runs 178-180, and oil 198-200 using the 160* thermostat. So I run it year-round. On the track, my oil temps hit the 280s (I have, but haven't yet installed, a DRM oil cooler). But even on the track, my coolant temps stay below 220. I'd credit that to a pretty good stock radiator.
