Although I like my Vortex very much, I find that the filter gets dirty fast and picks up a lot of sand. According to their web site, the pre-filter will cut down on the amount of sand that gets trapped in the pleats of the filter. The idea seems to make sense, but I'm wondering if anybody has had any "real life" experiences with their pre-filters. Thanks.
I would be interested in something like this for my vararam. After only a few hundred miles, I also had sand embedded in the filter element. I wonder if I gave them the dimensions, they could make one for me. SCOTT
I raced jestski's on The national Tour, Stumbled onto their booth at a trade show. Their original focus was shock "boots" and aircleaner covers for motorcycles and ATV. They were designed to keep water and mud from reaching places they shoud'nt. After a long chat with the owner we started to play with watercraft carb filter covers. They were simply amazing, its very common to get water into the hull during races only to get it into the motor. They became a mandatory item and a race saver.
That being said, if you find water/mud on your filter element based on the design of you cold air kit of choice. I would definately jump on one.
