Fuel Pump?
Had been running it all day, and sometimes IU was getting on it pretty hard on the open freeway, but it was running just fine until I was off the freeway for about 2 miles. I was at a light, started to go, then it started dying. I nursed it into a parking lot and waited (was thinking vapor lock) for 2 hours. Definately seemed to be a fuel issue. After trying to start it a few times, (would die soon after turning over), it stopped turning over like it wasn't getting any fuel. My guess (uneducated as it may be) is fuek pump. Anyone agree or disagree?
It's a 4+3, if that helps.
Would really love to hear you experts give me some ideas to go on.
Thanks!
Welcome to the forum :) It could be a fuel pump issue... a pressure check could reveal a problem. There is a schrader valve on the back passenger side of the fuel rail... your local parts house should have a gauge that will hook up to it. Although the gauges can be a bit pricey the gauge is a good tool to add to your tool box if you don't already have one. Racetronix makes a nice replacement and they are a forum vendor. You can also get their replacement / upgrade off of ebay (ebay motors) by searching under key word TPI. Another nortorius failure on our 85's is the fuel pump relay located near the back of the brake booster on the engine side. Also, you may want to pose this question in C4 Technical.
Good Luck :)
I realized today when I was searching for this that I mis-posted it... my bad! :smash:
Thanks for the tips, and I'm off to the store to get a gauge!
