I have the Ripper and the Hardbar Delrin ****. Beautiful combination. Shifts are crisp, short and positive. Ran my stock **** with the Ripper for almost a year. Have had the delrin one for a short while and so far it has much better feel for me in my '99 FRC. I got mine in Bowling Green last year at the anniversary kick off. Try someplace similar, the vendors have their shifters set on mock ups so you can get a fair idea of what they feel like. Have fun choosing and go with what feels best for you. Guy
Re: shifter opinions, which 1 to get?? (HurricaneZ)
just arrived, well put my hurst shifter & mgw shift **** on,very easy install, didnt test drive on the street because of rain(installed in driveway with doors closed),just movin up&down driveway & stationary shifting all the slop is gone& firm shifts , it really feels much better ,cant wait for the rain to stop so I can take a longer ride :steering: :grouphug: :D :D
Your forgetting one, The Mallett Shifter, anybody i've recomended it to and has bought it says it's the best one the've bought and this one guy went through almost everyone and now swears by the Mallett Shifter, check out the http://www.zo6vette.com forum, and do a search on shifters. you'll get an opinion and breakdown on everyone.
I love my Hurst and have not tried the others. Hurst also has a long history of affiliation with high-perf American cars which is also something I like.
Had a Hurst and it was all cool for just putt putting around town, but when you wanted to get serious through the back roads of PA at 80 MPH it became quite a chore to row throught he gears with the Hurst even on the lightest possible setting. I took it out and did my own OEM shifter mod to reduce the height to the exact same of the Hurst and put an MGW gripper **** to lower the over all height by a full two inches compared to OEM shifter and OEM ****.
I love how it feels now and I have had a few people including Chris from East Coast Supercharging tell me how much they liked my shifter.
I had a B&M in my C4 for 2 years and when I purchased my C5 that was the first thing I did....install another B&M! I guess you'd have to say I'm a B&M fan! :yesnod:
I have tried my friends Hurst and I'll take my shifter, thank you very much!
well it seems everyone just about agrees that the stock shifter is too sloppy ,no matter which 1 u choose you should be satisfied, this seems like a mod which should be done first.
