Default BROKE IT, NEED HELP - Internal

Well, last Friday night went to the track and pulled a few impressive runs, it wasn't long before something gave out, the car went real lean and blew the SH&* out of 4 spark plugs (Yes I was on nitrous). Went home (TOW TRUCK) switched out the plugs and wires and I was still having problems on #2/#7/#8 cylinder -- misfiring according to autotap that was the only problem, well I went the cheapest route and checked the coil packs, injectors wires and plugs again, still the same problem and the problem didn't follow my changes so it was off to a compression test..... I tested all the cylinders and 7/8 were very low on compression. :cry Now time for a tear down and see what I can find. Hopefully just a valve and not a piston, but we will see.

Well, I guess my first question is, IM looking for a how to site, I know I had some links to some before but now I cant find them, any help would be appreciated. IM looking how to remove the heads, intake, etc., ---mainly for torch specs. I don't have a book as of yet, we will see, but I know there is some sites with good useful information.

2nd IM guessing its going to be an exhaust valve, if so I have been thinking of upgrading to heads and cam package anyhow, just not at this time and moment - IM getting married and buying a house and this couldn't have happened at a worse time, well anyways why do the work twice when I can do it once and the right way. What packages do you think I could benefit from more with our giving an arm and a leg for??

My goals are to achieve a heads and Cam package to achieve approximately 415+ HP N/A to the rear wheels and the torque about the same, also I would like to benefit taking all that power and using nitrous on it maybe a 100 shot or something, what can you guys tell me or recommend? I do want to keep the Streetability as I do drive this car daily in the summer.

TUNERS AND VENDORS are welcome to quote me on the type of setup you can recommend for me to achieve these goals and still remain very good Streetability as I do use this car for the most part of a daily driver in the summer.

Either post or Email me directly

Again thanks guys for all your help :seeya

Check out http://www.ls1howto.com

There are excellent instructions there for a DIY head/cam job along with all the torque specs.

I was spraying 150, 60' time was a 1.50 run was going very smooth and quick then at the end you felt it bog down a little bit, run was about a second off pulled around to pick up my ticket and i noticed it wasnt firing on all cylinders... drove to the tow truck, loaded it, and went home... started it right back up pulled into the garage autotapped it - misfire on #2/#5/#7/#8 cylinders... pulled the plugs and they were blown to nothing.

I heard no noise at the time, the video show no blast of smoke, nothing????

Thats the kinda power im thinking of doing....

Does Katech have a website???

Did you do the install yourself or have someone do it?

Does it require fly cutting the pistons?? or any clearance issues?

Have you put any times down at the track? HP/NOS?

How is streetability?

Lastly what did the parts set you back if you dont mind me asking?

Thanks again,

Mike

Here is Katechs site http://www.katechengines.com/

I can tell you though that the cartek guys are putting down more power. Extreme Motorsports, Tempe AZ (supporting vendor) did my head and cam. I am not sure how much it costs because I got a new shortblock too. I would imagine that the LS6 heads are in the 3000.00 range and the cam is 400.00 + install. I have run 12.3 N/A and 11.7 on the bottle. But the 11.7 is traction limited. I spray N2O from the start (No window switch). and I launch damn hard on ET Streets. Best MPH was 130 on Street tires and 120 on et streets. I am not sure what the hell happened on ET Streets but I am working on it. The car is very driveable, as I drive mine daily. I don't think they had to cut anything to get it to fit.
