Default External fuel pump issues still

went to track last night. Was africa-hot for Portland at 93F at 6pm!! On the way to track i flogged the nitrous a few times on freeway to make sure all was well; and was not. The Aeromotive A1000 pump wouldnt get up past 40psi and very shakey. The whole night at the track it would not get up past the 53psi FPSS cutoff. It wasnt until about 1am when it had cooled down to 70F did the pump want to work. Makes all kinds nasty noises, too. So, which pump is next??? Barry Grant?? Walbro? I need a RELIABLE pump badly. I set my pressure regulator at 60psi for the nitrous.

BTW, what i did to run nitrous last night was bypass the FPSS then beef up my PEvsRPM table with Edit, then shoot nitrous in dry. i only chanced 125shot last night by this method and netted 10.90 @ 129.42 w/1.7 60'.

These poopiety externals pumps don´t let ya get into the 9´s :cry

I hope you find one perfect pump soon, so you can use the nirtous as it should be.

I haven´t heard of such problems with the low pressure pumps for the direct port setups.....one reason why I go direct port.

BTW, did you think about the LPE fuel pump ore racetronix setup.
It´s a 255lph pump.
I don´t know how much lph the stock pump is.
But as the stock pump is good for 550rwhp , maybe the LPE i9s good for 650rwhp???
Then you could spray a 200 shot on this pump.
Just an idea.

Michael

wouldnt you know it, on the way to work tonight the pump works like a charm. Frick. I hate this. So, do i still go ahead and pony up for another pump anyway?? I think i should but still undecided which one. Anyone have good luck out there with anything??? BG? Walbro?? others?

I had considered it at one point but then built the external system instead. I dont need the intake upgrade now, if i can get the external system reliable. However, with the new 436 that Shirl is building me, i may do the intake upgrade for that. does Racetronix have a kit together yet?? I believe the stock pumps out ~190lph.

For how much rwhp is is good to ??
How hard is the install?

Thanks,

Do you have a controller for your Pump? If so does it kick into high speed like it is supposed to?

As I wrote in my previous post I've just ordered it and I will receive it sometime next week so I can't tell so much. If you search the forum you will find info about the install and they say it's very easy.

This is from Racetronix website:
-Anodized T6 aluminum fuel pump module for simple drop-in installation
-High-Pressure 255L/Hr integral Walbro pump - supports high horsepower levels easily
-Full Plug & Play weatherproof harness - no cutting / splicing required - Boosts pump performance by as much as 25%.
-All components come pre-assembled
-Stainless steel hardware
-Installation hardware & instructions included
-Harness is performance upgrade ready!

The Walbro is great but for NOS and FI you may still be wanting. These guys are the best going that I know of.... Magnum Force Racing Fuel Pumps

Thier Pro Star EFI 600 is the pump if you have issues...

Magnaflow pumps are not suited for street driven cars as their pumps are not rated for continuous duty. They are extremely large in size, require extensive plumbing upgrades, are quite loud and expensive.

this is the issue: i should be able to leave the damnn pump on for at least a few minutes without it freaking out. That is my challenge. Any help, please. As i mentioned, the A1000 seems to be acting ok now. I will drive to work tonight with it on for 15 minutes. I'll report the findings...

On my Z06 LPE C5R 7 Litre I'm running a Walbro 225 Litre per hour, with a boostapump for when more fuel is demanded of the fuel system. On 03' Cobra it runs an Accell 225 per hour into 94 lb. injectoors, also just like LPE we reverted the fuel system to a 99' with return line. There is a Mafter burner on the "stang which is a plug& play box that takes computer data in real time and adjusts F/A every 250-300 rpm movements, and can be tuned for F/A witha laptop,Dave S.
