Default Solid Roller Guys please chime in!!!

Just a couple of questions. Got my car back....not complete, but it is running and the long block is in good shape now. Valve covers leak (really bad). Maybe clearance issue there.

What pushrod length did you go with?
What rockers did you use?
Did you get custom valve covers or 1" spacers?
Did you have to space the alternator out?

Any help or pics would be greatly appreciated. I am at my wits end and lets just say my chose of tuners (2 different shops) has not been the greatest, but I don't want to get into that.

with my heads I had to use .100 longer pushrods (could NOT use stock pushrods). I have a Jessel J2K adjustable setup. THe valve covers NEED to be TALLER to fit this setup. THe rocker pedestal bar also needed to be custom to fit. It was raised a few thousandsths for the rockers to clear the springs.
Spacers can be had I think from ARE or SAM racing, maybe Mike Morgan. My valve covers are the taller version of the ones that Extreme might sell or you can get the spacer.
Not sure about the alt. yet.

I bought the C5R Valve cover and found out you have to grove the head for the O-Ring gasket. Didn't like that so, I tried the spacers. With the coil packs in the stock location the alternator has to be moved out. I don't like that either.

Intel55: What is the clearance on the inside of your valve covers? Also, did you relocate your coil packs?

I needed to slightly clear the walls of the covers to get my rockers to cleanly fit. Not to bad though.

ARE solid roller here, push rods are .080cc. ARE grooved my heads for O-ring. No need to space out alternator. Did relocate coilpacks-fabricated myself with aluminum stock from the home supply store(see pic). I think LG sells them too.
I was wondering, why can't you have the C5R-valve covers grooved for the o-ring? Just a though, if your not taking the heads off. I have the biggest solid cam I could do without going into the bottom end, had to flycut the pistons 100/1000th's to get it all to fit. I had lots of headwork, I had to have the valve covers.

Not enough metal on the bottom of the C5R valve covers. In my opinion, I would rather grove a set of $500 valve covers instead of my $5000 heads. Plus, had to clearance the back of the head for the T&D rockers.

ARE makes valvecovers with the o-ring grooves in them already. You would have to drill into them for a place to add oil and for your PCV system though. They just come solid and you can set them up however you want to. They are welded aluminum and look killer.. I think around $400 or maybe less. I have posted pics of them a number of times but dont have them handy with me at this moment.

Yeah, I had to have the same headwork for my T&D shaft rockers. I think my valve covers do have the O-ring in them and not in the head. I just haven't had them off since I installed it all last fall.
