Default Common electrical grounds in the Z06

I posted a couple of days ago about the problem I've been having, namely my power seat going dead, my instrument panel going dead, and the engine going dead, at different times over the last few weeks. Based on the responses, the majority feel it is a grounding issue...

Does anyone have an idea where the common grounds are so I can check them out?

Problem with taking it to dealerships is that the power loss happens very sporadically, so they usually don't do squat if they don't see anything! :banghead:

I know of a few:

1. Under the driver's door sill trim by the latch
2. Under the passengers door sill trim by the latch
3. Under the battery at the frame rail (remove battery, it's right there)
4. Engine Ground Strap

Every grounding point is clearly laid out in the service manual for your car.

I ordered a set for mine from Fichtner when I first got it, as I tend to order service info for every car I buy.

Best bet is to order the manuals or find someone who has a set for your model year and locate the ground points and what systems are tied to what. Photocopy it and hunt them down yourself or take it to the dealer and have them check them. Some are easy, some are buried under trim. Most of them shouldn't be a problem for basic hand tools and a few cuss words to locate, check and tighten.

Here's a couple more :)

5. Under the hood on passenger's side frame rail near hood hinge
6. Under the hood on driver's side frame rail near hood hinge.
7. Battery negative (ground) cable itself.
