ok, now for my next problem...help!
ok, got the WCC cold air screens in and the PIAA 1100x's done. now i'm working on the Hotchkis bars. my problem is this: i was trying to run in the nuts just to clean up the threads on the stud and nut and found that i couldn't do it by hand. so, i pulled out a socket wrench and attempted to do it that way. i still couldn't get them in very far!!! i was putting so much force into it that when i stopped and touched the nut, it was extremely hot :bb
anyway, anyone know what the deal is? by the way, i purchased these from WCC used, could that have something to do with it? they told me they were in great shape and all necessary hardware was included.
appreciate any info

nope, it's not the thread pitch. they go in nice and smooth til the very last thread in the nut. i'm guessing it's the type of lock nut that uses a deformed thread as the locking feature. the problem is that it apparently is so deformed that i can't get past it.
oh well, gonna get a longer bar and try to torque it with brute force...hope i don't shear the stud!

Exactly which studs are giving you all this trouble? I just can't picture what's going on, and how a nut gets hot with a hand wrench

the "studs" i was talking about are part of the sway bar links, the ones that fit through the tab in the a-arm. the nut was getting hot because i was forcing it to turn....energy=heat
anyway, i put some special lube oil that i had on them and they went on MUCH easier. i just finished the front one, will do the rear tomorrow.

Remind me to be careful if I ever shake your hand
Seriously, I've had those particular nuts on and off a number of times on several sway bars, plastic and metal endlinks, and never had any trouble. Admittedly, they were not Hotchkis bars. Good luck to you
