Story........
I started her up and the idle was real bumpy, like a cylinder was missing,
Idle was sitting kinda low about 500 to 750 rpm. :nonod:
I smelled a strong odor of gas. Went to look at the pipes and white smoke
along with gas was coming out of them! :nonod: :nonod:
The Check Engine Light came on. :nonod: :nonod: :nonod:
Shut her down. Called Gm (extended warranty) and they had a Flatbed there
within an hour. I must give HUGE props to ACE Towing out of Denver, CO.
My car is slammed (longer bolts + cut bushings). The truck driver used
wood only on one front tire to kinda simulate going up at an angle. This
worked like a charm. What an awesome job!!!!!
We pulled up to Bozath Chevy and there were still people there!!! :hurray:
I got unloaded and was able to put her inside :hurray:
Cannot wait to hear what is wrong....................?
Any ideas on what could be wrong.........................?
This was one of those really bad situations that went extremely well.
It was running fine when you shut it off before this happened? My guess, and it's only a guess, would be an ignition problem.
But, if it is a head gasket, and they have parts and can work on it right away, I'd say 2 days, assuming they don't have to pull more than the one head and replace the gasket. How long did they keep the car to do the rings ... 4 or 5 days? and they had to pull the pistons to do that.
Best of luck, and please keep us posted on what it turns out to be,

I noticed a rough idle 2 days ago, I was low on gas so I put some in. Things
seemed fine - thought I just had some bad gas. (pun intended)
My car was in for 2 weeks for the ring job. Most of the time waiting for a GM
inpector to approve the warranty work. This was when denver got drilled with
45 plus inches of snow. The work itself took 4 days.
Waiting for the phone call from Chevy........................
I never knew that GM's extended warranty covered towing fee's .
Jeff
Me either. I just called the number on the back of the ID card.
Will not know the status until monday. i called the dealer today and service
said they do not have any "drivers" in until monday. I told him you cannot
drive the car. He said 'I know." Is a "driver" another name for a Tech?
Well, Chevy called this morning. The wiring to injector #5 & #7
shorted out causing them to stay open, thus the rig was flooded.
They fixed the wiring and that was it.
Gonna check the dip stick for any gas, if found gonna get an oil change.
If you were pouring white smoke out the back, your cats are fused. Have them checked and replaced if needed. If a lump of that material shifts and plugs your exaust it will slow you down or stop you dead. When my injectors stuck full open the cat was a solid lump inside.
