How hard is it to change your own rotors. Looking at some slotted rotors and would like to try the install myself, a certain since of pride in that I guess! :banghead: I also like the look of bloody knuckles! Any advice, directions or links would be appreciated! :seeya
I have changeed many on various cars. The only caution I will tell you is the service manuals tell you not to use air tools. I believe it is to not snap off any off the heads. Also manual tell you to buy new bolts. A few weeks ago I did mine. New bolts all around, everything done by hand. Total time front and rear 2 1/2 hours which include raising the car and removing the tires. Dont forget to open brake fluid tank and watch level when comprising the pistons.

Do you have the part # for the 21 mm large bolts that hold the bracket?
Thanks!

GM part number for the large bolts that mount the calipers (2 bolts per caliper) is:
14084051
As far as using air toolss ... I have the shop manual and there is NO warning that I can find against using air tools. These bolts require 125 lb. ft. of torque, so getting 'em on and off by hand is real work, but I have done it, so it is possible!!
The manual DOES specify that you use new bolts every time you remove them.
Unfortunately I am on vacation on the east coast. Dont have service manuals with me, or coupe (boo hoo), but when I get back I will double check and I am pretty certain it mentions not to use air gun. I know it does not want you to use one when putting on or removing the wheels.
If I am way off I will let you know when I get home.
