Default Help

Was changing plugs in my work car. Plug broke off. Only thing left is the threads in the head. How do i get them out? You can look down all the wat to the piston. Everything else fell inside. Most came out in the socket. Don't want to pull the head. I'ts a alloy head. Any ideas? Thanks. :mad :mad :mad Sorry i know this is'nt Vette related. but needed Help

I feel for you. That is some bad luck. If parts fell into the cylinder, your best bet is to pull the head, otherwise you risk damage to the engine. If all the parts that broke off are metal, you may be able to fish them out with a magnet but you will be taking a risk if anything is left behind.

I agree with Jeff. Once I unknowingly dropped a carb screw into my intake and sometime later a rattling sound and engine problems caused me to investigate. When I pulled the heads, I found a damaged piston and cylinder walls and impressions of screw threads on several of the pistons. The screw had been passed from cylinder to cylinder. Best advice is to pull the heads to make sure you get all of the debris out of the cylinder.

This may sound dumb but it worked for me. I used a shop vac and made a funnel at the suction end and sucked out all the material that was not bolted in place . Hope this helps you. :seeya
