Steering is numb..........
Been viewing posts at corvetteforum.com for many months now, and decided it's time to join. I have a prob with my 1998 Vette, and I'm hoping that someone can help....
You guys know how the steering tightens up at freeway speeds? When I slow down after the off ramp, the steering continues to be hard for a few minutes. Anyone experience the same problems? Any suggestions?

Is the car equipped with an electrically assisted variable effort system?
Is DTC 1241 stored in the system?
The service manual calls for using a scan tool at this point to run the diagnostics.

Cortex, no you wouldn't, it's hard to steer and you can barely turn more than 2 inches... not fun after flying off the freeway offramp
Mapman, don't know about service codes. I hoped someone else would recognize the problem so I don't have to pay to get the trouble diagnosed at the dealer (they'll chage me for 5 hours of work and say they can't find anything....)
Anyone else heard of this?
