What octane is Toluene?
I have heard 117, 114 and Hib in his gas article says 103.5. What is the real octane rating of Toluene?
I need to know how much to mix with each tank.
Also is the match as simple as if you use half a tank of Toluene and half of 91 octane, the mixture will be 91+117 divided by 2?

I've heard 117 as well. I run Xylene in my Syclone and i've "heard" it is 118.
Here is my recipe with xylene, gives you about 100 octane.
3 parts 93 octane pump gas
1 part Xylene
1 oz Marvel Mystery Oil for every gal of xylene used.
You can go to a 2:1 mixture as well.
You may want to also check out turbobuick.com, lots of guys running xylene/tolulene over there. HTH

How much does Toluene cost? Is it a cheaper solution that buying race fuel? I know 91 octane runs here about $1.59 and 104 runs about $4.80.

I can get a 5gal pail of xylene here in East TN for $25. Go to a paint store you can find it cheaper.
I figure $1.50gal times 15gals for 93 = $22.50. Plus $25 for 5gals of xylene. Bout $2.50 a gallon for 100 octane unleaded. If my math is right.

I have an old article that says 114, it list five different formulas, if I had a scanner I would post the entire article.
Fornula #1 - Toluene
R+M/2.......114
Cost..........$2.50/gal
Mixtures with 92 Octane Premium
10% .............94.2 Octane
20% .............96.4 Octane
30% .............98.6 Octane
Notes: Common ingredient in Octane Boosters in a can. 12-16 ounces wil only raise octane 2-3 points from 92 - 92.3. Often cost $3-5 for 12-16 ounces, when it can be purchased for less than $3/gal at a chemical supply houses or paint stores.
Editors note: I would not suggest that a person use the following fuel mixtures without considering the detrimental effects on your engine, vital engine components (02 sensors, etc) and other potential damage.
