Well I finally got the car Dyno Tuned at Eastside Performance & Dyno Services in Wallingford, CT. Guy & Ken seem to know their stuff with LS1 Edit and a nice new looking Dynojet. I brought them a 98 with the raw heads & cam data, predetonating, touchy idle and throwing code P0140.
First Dyno pull revealed 4 degrees of Knock Retard, very lean A/F ratio and 382 RWHP, 371 RWTQ.
Last pull released 397 RWHP & 380 RWTQ. Idle is fine. No audible Knock. What a joy to drive home 185 miles with all of the above....very nice ride today! Project Complete! These things do take time.
What a sound when they ran it up to 6500 rpm and then cut it loose! Man that Dyno makes a sound for sore ears! Combined with the headers & PRT's
whoa................! sounds like performance and power!
How many pulls, and about how many hours did this take?
Might be doing this soon myself, I know the LS1-edit is $550, just wondering how much I am looking at spending to get a reputable shop to tune/tweak it, about $150/hr for dyno/tune is what I am hearing, just dont know how many hours.
Five Pulls / 1.5 hours / $550 (high, but closest to home (390 miles rt) I could find & came recommended) / two updates included (excluding dyno time).
I don't know how you would do it on your own but I suppose other Forum Members have that all figured out. It was a co-ordinated effort between the two individuals at the shop. The person operating the car was hooked up via auto tap and the outside guy was watching and adjusting LS1 edit. Other than adjusting the idle & rev limiter the primary concentration was getting the A/F ratio to approx. 12.8 throughout the power band. They did this actually quite easily. They adjusted a few other things; I do not remember what. Hope it all works out and I don't have to go back for tweaking.
I did enjoy the ride though...been awhile since I had the car out on the interstate.....I was lucky..no valentine & no tickets! :seeya
Seems like you figured it out..Good #'s for this kind of heat..
BUT...the best results are in cool weather with low humidity..My last dyno was in 99 degree heat and stifling humidity also.. :yesnod:
Your right it was a hot humid day. In the beginning when I started this project my goal was 400 rwhp. I say ...mission accomplished. If the ASP UD Pulley had survived I would definitely be there!
I realize these numbers are moderate compared to many here; when it came to picking a cam ...well I compromized for driveability. I have been told by others that a higher lift cam would have been just as street friendly..oh well, maybe next winter...hey!?
Hey...Merrimack, NH (I have bicycled through there on the way to Quebec) Yeah .... your right there with me on the numbers! How much would I pick up if I went to the FLP Off Road Pipes (no cats)? Would that give me the big 400?
