I just hardwired my Valentine 1 and it works. Now car will not start, but I did have doors open for a while. Waited 15 minutes and got LOW VOLTAGE on DIC. Disconnected battery and waited 5 minutes, still problem. Lights work, radio works, Valentine 1, etc. Is it just battery? All I get is a clicking noise in the passenger floorbaord. Did I fry computers? Intermittent DIC. Should I just try and jumpstart it?
Don't take a chance, any regular lead-acid battery can leak. I had a DELCO leak in a new Pontiac Bonneville. In your C5 if it leaks, the computer and the wiring harness can be toast ! They are located directly under the battery.
I replaced my DELCO with a Champion XLT (AGM Battery) size/number DT35/CHXDT35 made by Exide. Got it at SAMS Club for $90-95. It has 690 CCA, 850 CA, a 36 month free replacement and free jump-start, and a 108 month limited warranty.
I feel your pain. I thought I fried the computers. All I could think about was a flatbed and a $4,000 bill. I had computer problems a few years ago and wanted to sell the car back then, but it is too much fun. I did not want to invest the time or money in a newer one, so just mod this one.
Just the batt, get it jumped and let it charge up and you will be fine.
:iagree: The same thing occured to melast year. I left the doors, hood and hatch open while I was cleaning the car. I did not run it for long prior to the cleaning and the battery went dead. It created a lot of codes on the dic, but after a full charge I have not had a problem since. RE Red Top, When it is time to replace I will get one. However, I don't think it is worth it to replace a good battery just to upgrade. Besides, I hear from some that the batteries that have higher cranking power often times don't last as long. More research is indicated. :steering:
Can I ask you a quick unrelated question spdnman...
You have H/C/I you are only putting down 300hp and 327 ft/lbs to the ground? I'm not trying to knock your vette, but on LS1.com stock SS camaros and WS6s are dynoing more (hp wise) than that?
What kind of dyno were you on? Was that before or after H/C?
