Walked out to the garage and I noticed a little pool of oil under my rear end.Any body have a suggestion as a fix it your self solution?I believe this is a common problem with Vettes. :chevy :chevy :flag :chevy :chevy
There is a pretty common problem with the seal on the drivers side halfshaft where it enters the differential. These start leaking on a fairly regular basis. Do a search there have been plenty of previous threads about this problem. Dealer will fix it under warranty for you.

I had the same problem this morning and figured it's the seal. If it was overfilled wouldn't it have leaked from the beginning. Why would it leak after 10,000 miles and not before. BUT I will check for a breather. Is it easy to find? I guess I am asking where is it. TIA
Another thing to check is the drain/fill plug on the tranny. They sometimes need a little sealant and the oil that's dripping is blown back to the rear-end and is misleading.
Just had my half shaft seals and diff cover gasket replaced at 12k for minor leak. Was done under warantee at no cost to me. The dealer forgot to put the posi additive in the differencial and took it back for the additive to be added to the diff. Have had no leaks since but only put on about 600 miles since work was done. Time will tell.
mines currently in getting transmission fixed and the seals are leaking near the half shafts. Tech says common problem and will replace. The interesting thing is that in CA they aren't allowed to put in the additive for slip because it's hazadous material. They just happend to find a bottle and will add.
10k ON THE '02 and noticed the same thing today. Just a few small drops;
but it was rather dark. I at first thought maybe one of the Harley's had been parked there, but I remember the Vette was in it's stall the whole time.
Well,I crawled under the car checking for my rear end leak and I discovered the transmission bolts were loose.I wonder how many owners wre told they needed seals and gaskets when all that was wrong was tightening up the bolts.No more leak.My rear end is DRY. :chevy :chevy :flag :flag :chevy :chevy
