Hi gang just joined today! I would like to change my rear end gears, I have a 2002 Z06 (342 gears). I would like feedback on 390 gears you have maybe installed(where did you get them? Best Price? How was the preformance?) Also has any one tried the 411 gears-too much? thanks

Re: 390 or 411 gears (kh24)
I got 4.10s and love em. Works perfect on the Z06. Its a little more shifting but you get into the powerband almost right away with the 4.10s
:iagree: 1000% and just had them installed on my 03 Z06 and it really makes the Z06 a little rocket ship. KH 24's advice was one of the reasons in ended up doing this mod and i think its a NO BRANIER!! 4.10ssssssssssssssssssss ALL THE WAY BABY! :steering: :steering:
:iagree: 4.10's are like adding 75hp to your car. You may lose 2 mpg on mileage. :leaving: No downside that I can see. This should be the first mod you get. If you have this then you keep adding HP till you can't get it to the ground in your application then you are done.

Re: 390 or 411 gears (SpinMonster)
SPINMONSTER was probably the biggest influencing person here on the forum (who was so kind to help in addition to several other)s leading me to pull the trigger on the 4.10s! :smash:
When you punch it on the street in 2nd from 40 or from 60 in 3rd, do the tires break loose with the 4.10's? What about before you got the 4.10's? I am going to have gears put in when I do the clutch and I have been trying to decide between 3.90's and 4.10's. I was leaning toward the 3.90's becasue I thought there was no way I would be able to stay hooked from a roll on the street with 4.10's, but if you can stay hooked with all of that torque, then I should be able to as well. I plan on getting some BFG drag radials or the Nitto's to help with traction.
Edit: I just noticed that the 4.10's are in your '03 Z06 and not the 427. You do have 3.73's in the 427, though. How is your traction with the 3.73's in the above scenarios?

Re: 390 or 411 gears (R6_C5_ML430)
Most of my experience on the street with the 4.10s on the 03 Z has been on the new big 315/30/18 bfg drag radials and these tires dead hook the car and do a GREAT JOB. As far as with the stock rubeber/tires which just went back on the car traction is quite limited but makes the car pretty fun to drive. Under you example of hooking from a roll with stock tires i think you will be fine but not 100% positive yet b/c haven't had much testing yet on stock tires.
GEt the new styl bfg drag radials and you will be hooking great with the 4.10s in your Z. The 427 Z07 vert of mine is in a whole different league and pretty much smokes the tires under all conditions cited in your question. The 427 is also an A4 car and with 500rwtq being made the 3.73s are great for that car but for the Z06 with stock motor 4.10SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS all the WAY! :smash:
