Anyone have any insight as to how much the install will cost? Reliable? Better off just biting the bullet and buying a whole diff? A SoCal recommendation would be great!

Andy Green of A&A Corvettes Specialties ( andy@aandacorvette.com ) did this sometime back, I think maybe $400. You can email him if he does not chime in. He is a supporting vendor.
