What is a Pilot Bearing?
My car makes a lound rattling sound, when I have my foot on the clutch and apply the throttle. I can feel it in the shifter. And it won't go into gear at times. The service advisor just call me told me the pilot bearing is shot and it messed up were it meets the transmission. :confused:

OH and to think I used to work in a transmission shop, how the mighty have fallen. I think the pilot bearing is the bearing that supports the input shaft that comes out the front of the tranny.

Yes, the pilot bearing is in the flywheel and supports the front of the input shaft. :yesnod:
