Default Turn Signal Problem

Suddenly my 98's right front turn signal won't stop flashing. I can hear the flasher working, the right dash indicator sometimes will flash and sometimes not, but the right front signal will flash and the right rear does not. If I activate the turn signals either right or left they work properly. As soon as the signal cancels the right front will start flashing on its own. If I press the control lever to the high beam location it will stop and will start again when returning the lever to the low beam setting. Any help will be appreciated. Thank. :banghead: :chevy :flag

Default Re: Turn Signal Problem (bowtie911)

The wiring harness for your turn signal/cruise control/light switch/hi-low beam switch has a short circuit in it.

What causes the problem is the tilt steering column. Over time the motion of adjusting the tilt column bends the wires in the harness until a wire breaks or shorts against another wire. Depending on which wire in the harness breaks or shorts will determine what problem you will have. (turn signal, dimmer switch, cruise control, headlight switch)

It's a fairly easy fix. You will need a new multi purpose lever/stalk assembly. The harness comes with the multi purpose stalk assembly. It's about $125.
